Mama Lorenza’s Vocational Centre Ranked Best Vocational Training Centre in Kenya

We are proud to announce an extraordinary achievement: Mama Lorenza’s Vocational Centre has been ranked the top-performing vocational training centre in Kenya.

According to the latest institutional Quality Audit conducted by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) – the Kenyan State Agency responsible for regulating, coordinating, accrediting and quality-assuring vocational training nationwide – Mama Lorenza’s Vocational Centre achieved the highest overall score among 203 Vocational Training Centres audited across 17 counties, with an outstanding 85% compliance score, placing 9 percentage points ahead of the second-ranked institution.

A prestigious national endorsement of quality and impact

This recognition is particularly significant because it comes from Kenya’s national regulatory authority and is based on a comprehensive institutional audit assessing the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of vocational education and training providers.

The TVETA audit evaluates institutions across seven key quality indicators:

  • Leadership, Governance and Management
  • Physical Resources
  • Human Resources
  • Training Delivery
  • Programme Evaluation
  • Trainee Support
  • Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Cooperation

Outstanding performance across key quality indicators

Mama Lorenza’s Vocational Centre recorded exceptional results across all categories, with particularly outstanding scores in:

  • 94% in Physical Resources, recognising the quality and adequacy of training facilities, equipment, and infrastructure
  • 91% in Trainee Support, highlighting strong systems for student welfare, guidance, and inclusion
  • 90% in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Cooperation, acknowledging community engagement, partnerships, and innovative approaches to vocational education

In a national context where the average overall score of audited centres was significantly lower, and where many institutions were found to face major challenges in areas such as human resources, innovation, and quality assurance systems, this result represents not only excellence but leadership.

For Children of Africa, this recognition is one of the most meaningful milestones ever achieved.

It validates fifteen years of dedicated work, investment, and commitment to building a vocational training model that offers young people real opportunities for employment, independence, and dignity.

Behind this achievement are the students who work every day to build their future, the teachers and staff whose dedication makes excellence possible, and the local community that continues to believe in the transformative power of education.

And, of course, this recognition also belongs to everyone who has supported this journey through trust, partnership, and generosity.

This is a moment to celebrate but also a motivation to continue raising the bar.

We are deeply grateful, immensely proud, and more determined than ever to keep growing
